The solid tape is usually applied to the top edge of the sheet, i.e. house end
The breather tape is applied to the bottom of the sheet i.e. gutter end. It is important where a hip roof is being formed or triangles are being cut, open flutes be taped with solid aluminium top tape to prevent dirt, dust and insects entering the sheet.
