Customer Project: An Easy DIY Secondary Glazing Solution Using Clipglaze
A discreet, removable secondary glazing kit that improves window insulation without changing the appearance of the original window.
Our customer wanted to improve the thermal insulation of a traditional timber sash window while preserving its original appearance.
The solution was a simple, cost-effective DIY secondary glazing kit using white Clipglaze edging and a clear 4mm UV-protected polycarbonate sheet, both supplied by Omegabuild.
The Secondary Glazing Solution
The customer purchased our Clipglaze secondary glazing edging kit, together with a clear 4mm polycarbonate glazing panel.
Omegabuild cut the polycarbonate sheet to the customer’s required dimensions and provided advice on measuring the window and fitting the secondary glazing.
The white Clipglaze edging blends neatly with the existing white-painted window surround, creating a discreet secondary glazing solution that complements the character of the property.
The Finished Result
The customer now benefits from an additional insulating layer that helps reduce heat loss through the original window, improving comfort during colder months.
An important advantage of this removable secondary glazing system is its flexibility. The panel can be easily removed during summer, allowing the original sash window to be opened for ventilation.
The finished installation demonstrates how a simple DIY secondary glazing solution can improve window insulation without the expense or disruption of replacing existing windows.
