How do I divert water into a water butt from my canopy?

Grey canopy with glass clear roof fitted behind a house with a water buttDiverting rainwater from your patio canopy or garden verandah into a water butt is a great way to collect rainwater for use in your garden while keeping the area around your canopy dry and well drained.

If you have an Omega Smart Canopy, this can be done very easily using a purpose-designed gutter adaptor.

Using a gutter adaptor on an Omega Smart Canopy

Omega Smart Canopies are designed with an integrated gutter system in the front eaves beam that collects rainwater running off the canopy roof. To redirect this water into a water butt, you simply need to install a gutter adaptor.

The adaptor can be fitted in one of two positions depending on your installation:

  • Into the end cap of the canopy gutter

  • Into the underside of the eaves beam gutter

Once installed, the adaptor allows you to connect a standard downpipe or drain bend. This pipe can then be directed straight into a water butt or rainwater collection system, making it easy to reuse rainwater in your garden.

This simple solution allows you to:

  • Collect rainwater efficiently from your canopy roof

  • Prevent water from pooling around your patio area

  • Reuse rainwater for watering plants or garden use

  • Integrate your canopy with existing drainage systems
